This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 2 P.M., Sunday, June 2nd, 2019. Condition code is Green. DEFCON 5.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time.

Iran says it is relaxing some curbs to its nuclear programme in response to new sanctions and threatens to resume enrichment of uranium beyond the low fissile purity and has increased enrichment of low enriched uranium by fourfold. However, it should be noted that Iran has stated that nuclear weapons are against its State religion, with one lawmaker stating he will introduce legislation to outlaw nuclear weapons for Iran. We will continue to follow that development. An important point to note is that Iran believes it is allowable to lie to foreign enemies.

With regard to Iran, the U.S. President is not inclined to act militarily against the country unless there are American deaths or a dramatic escalation. While the United States has said on several occasions that it is willing to talk with Iran, Iran has refused talks with the United States. Apparently concerned about hostilities with the United States, Iran has proposed a non-aggression pact with neighbour states.

The United States is to seek new arms control agreement that includes both Russia as well as China, which previously had not been part of such agreement. To date, China has not expressed any interest in an arms control agreement. Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to develop anti-missile lasers.

Over in China, the United States believes that China is working toward obtaining a nuclear triad. Additionally, China is considering restricting exports of rare-earth metal to the United States, metals vital to the production of high-tech military equipment. This due to the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China. Nevertheless, lack of access to rare-earth metals puts the United States at a significant disadvantage that can be taken advantage of by an adversary.

Military experts voice concern that North Korea’s new short range missile may be able to evade defenses as well as carry a nuclear warhead. North Korea has declined further talks with the United States over its nuclear programme.

The DEFCON Warning System is a private intelligence organization which has monitored and assessed nuclear threats by national entities since 1984. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack. If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
