The United States has withdrawn all remaining diplomatic personnel from its embassy in Caracas as the crisis in Venezuela deepens.

"Today, all US diplomats remaining in Venezuela departed the country. I know it is a difficult moment for them," US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement on Thursday.

He said the US remains committed to supporting opposition leader Juan Guaido, who wants to remove Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and hold elections.

China says it is ready to help Venezuela to restore its power grid.
If Venezuela officially accepts the help, and China provides it, it will be interesting. Potentially, it is much more than small skirmishes in the South China sea.
China ain't going to do it for free. Venezuela will have to sell its soul to China, just like other countries have done and now live to regret it.
They already have early on in their inflationary cycle China invested heavily to prop up the gov.
I am hesitant to speculate how far Russia and China will go to save their proxy. Popular support from surrounding Latin American countries for a change of government in Caracas stands in their way to degree.

Personal observation up to this point we’ve been pretty restrained in actions taken to remove Maduro. I do not want to see direct intervention of our military but their is this. There is obviously a genuine opposition movement in Venezuela and the situation there is by most definitions is bad. As a nation of power and influence should we not be offering support to the opposition? It’s clear the Maduro gov is supported by several foreign nations and possibly the cartels.
Where do we draw the line with non intervention?
Jefferson sent warships to the Med to deal with piracy and did not hesitate to send troops ashore to make the point clear. We were not a world power then we were a nation acting in our self-interest.
Is it in our self interest to not be involved in Venezuela future by any practical means available?
