MOSCOW, October 19. /TASS/. Moscow expects the US-led coalition to give an adequate response to Belgium’s airstrike near Aleppo, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
We expect the US-led coalition and Belgium, in particular, as well as all the international institutions to give an adequate response," the ministry's official spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
According to the diplomat, if no direct condemnation follows, Russia will consider the airstrike a step to protect the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group (outlawed in Russia).
"It cannot be otherwise. If no direct condemnation of strikes by the coalition, by the Belgian Air Force follows, we will have no option left other than regard everything that is happening now as an attempt to preserve bandit groups in Syrian territory," Zakharova said.

"US officials are not sure that they have any aircraft, capable to defeat the Russian S-300 long range surface-to-air missile systems, deployed in Syria, the Washington Post newspaper reported, citing sources in the US Department of Defense. ... 'It’s not like we’ve had any shoot at an F-35' ... 'We’re not sure if any of our aircraft can defeat the S-300.'"

Belgium denies the airstrike. Belgium is mainly active around mosul. The goverment of Belgium sees this as a russian attempt to split up the coalition.

Russia accuses U.S.-led coalition airstrike of killing 6 in Syria

The Russian military says a U.S.-led coalition airstrike on a Syrian village in the province of Aleppo has killed six civilians.

The military's Reconciliation Center in Syria said Tuesday's strike on the village of Hassajek also wounded four people and destroyed two houses.

Russian military surveillance spotted two Belgian F-16 fighter jets over the area at the time of the strike, the center said late Tuesday. It said Russian and Syrian warplanes weren't flying over the area that day.

Russia's Tass news agency reported from Brussels that the Belgian defense minister denied Belgian aircraft had struck the area.

Russia said Russian and Syrian warplanes halted their airstrikes on the besieged city of Aleppo, in preparation for a temporary pause in the military push that Moscow has announced for Thursday.

Russian officials said the "humanitarian pause" should allow civilians and militants safe passage out of the city.

The French government said the leaders of Germany and France will try to persuade the Russian president to extend the humanitarian pause in Aleppo.

PARIS (Sputnik) — French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel plan to persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin to extend the humanitarian pause in Syria, the French government said Wednesday. "Later today I and Mrs. Merkel will ask Mr. Putin to extend the truce for humanitarian access, which was announced yesterday," Hollande's administration quoted him as saying.

This meeting is to be held after the Normandy Four meet to discuss Ukraine. I seriously doubt this meeting will bring any further results for Ukraine or Syria!

"Painful countermeasures"
Sounds vague and ominous, as usual.

The best threats are vague threats. Don't tell the enemy what you'll do. Let their imaginations frighten them instead. You can become comfortable with the known, but the unknown will be unceasingly terrifying.
