Old thread is getting kind a long. Things seem to be ratcheting up some what. (Just generally, not just by this post alone)

Pyongyang says U.S. unable to intercept its nuclear weapons

North Korea on Saturday condemned the United States' successful shoot down of an intercontinental ballistic missile target earlier this week, saying its nuclear weapons won't be intercepted.

A spokesman for North Korea's Strategic Force told Pyongyang's official Korea Central News Agency (KCNA) that Tuesday's simulated interception of an ICBM from the North at an air base in California is just a serious military provocation by the U.S.

The spokesman contended that Americans are mistaken if they think such a missile interception system can prevent the shower of a nuclear strike by the Strategic Force.

"Such a risky act is a sign that their (U.S.) preparations for unleashing a nuclear war against the DPRK have reached the final phase," the spokesman was quoted by KCNA as saying in English. DPRK is the initials of the North's official name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

"Their foolhardy moves go to clearly prove that the DPRK's step for bolstering the nuclear force for self-defense is entirely just."

"They (U.S.) are now bluffing, bragging about the 'success' in the test and the efficiency of the missile interception system. But the DPRK considers it just a foolish act of those driven to despair," the North's spokesman went on to say."

"They are sadly mistaken if they think such missile interception system can prevent the shower of nuclear strike by the Strategic Force of the KPA. The last-ditch gambling of the Trump administration for a nuclear war will only bring earlier the day when the U.S. mainland will turn into ashes."

The language of the rhetoric used by both sides has changed slightly, now using terminology that means very specific things in diplomatic circles. The Nimitz is on its way across the Pacific to join the other two CSGs already on station. Missile tests conducted by both sides.

I agree the whole tone of the situation is slowly getting more concerning.

What we have here are the makings of a stalemate. Both sides are bluffing, a first strike by either a side is essentially suicide or at the least would have very serious repercussions.
If The DPRK strikes first their entire country would be vaporized likely before they hit anything in the conus. Even if they were to completely destroy all of America I doubt the Chinese would be happy. The U.S is China's proverbial cash cow. They invest in our infrastructure and innovation big time.
If the US strikes first, DRPK would undoubtedly be able to hit a few targets causing political turmoil like we have never seen here in the states and who's to say in that situation that the Chinese/ Russians wouldn't get involved.
If the trump administration was serious and crazy enough to make the first move, it would have happened already.
The Chinese and Russians will absolutely not tolerate an occupation/ take over of a bordering country and I think it's safe to say they will not budge on this issue.

DPRK is king of rhetoric, I wouldn't doubt there is a ministry! Fwiw A back room deal with China involvement may be in air.

— A Japanese town conducted an evacuation drill Sunday amid rising fear that a North Korean ballistic missile could hit Japanese soil.
More than 280 residents and schoolchildren from Abu, a small town with a population of just over 3,400 on Japan’s western coast, rushed to designated school buildings to seek shelter after sirens from loudspeakers warned them of a possible missile flight and debris falling on them.
A similar drill was conducted Sunday in the neighboring prefecture of Fukuoka in southern Japan, and others are planned over the next few months

These claims require checking
.Rodong SM claims the range of NK's Hwasong-12 IRBM is 4 times the maximum height it reached or about 8,500 km. https://t.co/wVPabqoAfA

Citing NK rocket experts, Rodong claims Guam, Hawaii, Alaska & even mainland US are already within reach of its Hwasong-12 missile.
technology. It's so difficult to fire at such an angle that no other country launched missiles in the manner that we did."
