Fresh month. Fresh thread. Here we go. Again

N.K. leader inspects 2 front-line islets, warns of strike against S. Korea
North Korea's leader has visited military detachments on two islets off the southwest front, saying that the country is considering a plan to strike South Korea, Pyongyang's state media said Friday.

Kim Jong-un inspected the military units on Jangjae and Mu islets, which are located not far from South Korea's front-line Yeongpyeong Island, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

North Korea shelled Yeongpyeong Island in November 2010, leaving four people, including two civilians, dead. The shelling marked the first North Korean artillery attack on South Korea since the 1950-53 Korean War.

The KCNA said that Kim looked at the South Korean island at an observation post on Jangjae Islet, calling for combat readiness against its enemy.

After taking a report about South Korean military's movements, Kim "acquainted and examined the plan for fire strike of the newly organized forces at the objects of the enemy," the report said in English.

A South Korean military source said that Kim is believed to have visited the islets Thursday on a small vessel.

North Korea is known to deploy multiple rocket launchers and artillery pieces on the two islets. There is an artillery unit on Mu Islet, which attacked Yeongpyeong Island in 2010.

The inspection came amid heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula over North Korea's possible provocations.

▪The move is seen as aiming to counter the South Korean military's boosting of combat readiness on islands in waters off the western coast.

A South Korean Marine Corps commander inspected front-line troops near the tense Western maritime border Thursday, saying that any provocations by North Korea will be retaliated against.

A set of front-line islands lie just below the Northern Limit Line (NLL), the de facto sea border with North Korea, near which bloody skirmishes between the two Koreas took place in recent years

Woah, woah. Considering a strike? Lets see how that one plays out.

Also, Kim Jung-il visited artillery regiments close to the island of Yeonpyeong. Then, those same regiments fired at the island of Yeonpyeong. I would call this an interesting development, but of course nothing could happen out of it.

I get this feeling that N Korea is not joking this time as China is pulling away from N Korea and with new sanctions N Korea may feel as they're backed into a corner
I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.

Is this again just bla, bla, bla? Or is it something to take serious this time? Just parts regarding an attack. I'm kinda worried but at the same time it's always the same for a long time now.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un reviewed a new strike plan against a South Korean forward military unit during a visit to two frontline islands in the Yellow Sea, the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Friday.
Kim inspected the advanced base at Jangjae island (Jangjae-do) and the coastal defense station at Mu island (Mu-do), located near the Northern Limit Line (NLL), the de facto maritime border between North and South Korea.
KCNA said Kim had received a report on the “recent movement of North-West Islands Defense Command (NWIDC) of the South Korean puppet army and the current situation of the reinforced Yeonpyeong Unit” while observing Yeonpyeong from an observation post on Jangjae island.
He… examined the plan for fire strike of the [North Korean] newly organized forces at the objects of the enemy,” KCNA said in an English dispatch, without providing details of the strike plan.
“The elite artillery group of Korean People’s Army (KPA) defending the southwest front should maintain the high alert and completely break the backbone of the puppet… once ordered,” KCNA quoted Kim Jong Un as having said.
Kim told the North Korean soldiers that the bombardment of Yeonpyeong had been the “most delightful battle.”
“The Hero Defence Detachment on Mu Islet smashed the reckless and provocative shelling by the South Korean puppet warmongers with the merciless shower of shells to turn Yonphyong island into a sea of fire, thus showing the spirit of the artillery of the KPA before the enemy,” KCNA quoted Kim as saying.

North Korean imports of fuel products from China all rose in March, though not to levels that might imply the DPRK was stockpiling ahead of a reported shortage in Pyongyang.
