An interesting development:

"Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has rejected a US call for an immediate ceasefire in northern Syria, saying Turkey's offensive will continue.

His comments come as US Vice-President Mike Pence and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo prepare to fly to Turkey to try to broker a truce.

On Tuesday, Russia warned that it would not allow clashes to take place between Turkish and Syrian forces.

Turkey says its offensive aims to push Kurdish forces from the border region.

It considers elements of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) a terrorist organisation.

Ankara also says it wants to create a "safe zone" reaching about 30km (20 miles) into Syria to resettle up to two million Syrian refugees currently in Turkey.

However, Syrian forces - which are backed by Russia - advanced north at the weekend following a deal with the Kurds to try to hold back the Turkish operation."

Turkey's military operation in northeast Syria will continue until Kurdish fighters in the region drop their weapons and withdraw from a planned "safe zone", President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.

Shrugging off international calls for a ceasefire on the eve of a meeting with top US officials, Erdogan on Wednesday told his party's deputies that no foreign power could stop the offensive - now in its eighth day - before all of Ankara's goals were met.

We would stop the operation tonight, if they withdrew right away," he said, referring to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which Turkey considers a "terrorist organisation".

There is a risk of an Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) resurgence in Syria, and it is Turkey’s invasion of the northeast that should be blamed, Bouthaina Shaaban, a political adviser to Syrian President Bashar Assad, told RT.
“Every war creates chaos and chaos is a good climate for terrorism. So this invasion creates better climate for ISIS terrorists,” she said, referring to the terrorist group by its old name. “But the major force that is fighting for Turkey now are the Jabhat al-Nusra. So the terrorists are led by Turkey now to occupy part of the Syrian land.”

ISIS fights for Turkey and has from day one. Putin proved that to everyone a few days after he landed his troops in Syria and they had done some recon. They have also been caught with revised maps of Turkey showing a new Ottoman caliphate as well. Russia needs to stop Turkey cold. Tell them to get out of Syria by sundown the next day or be bombed lol. The Turks would be in a full sprint back home.

There's a massacre in Rojava ! Civilians, children dying, forbidden chemical weapons being used. To prevent this, the UN must act immediately and send peacekeepers to Rojava. @UN https://t.co/08FxiGeW0s

Just in: the SDF calls on the United Nations, the UN Security Council, the Arab League, and the US to “move immediately to send international observers in order to maintain the temporary ceasefire agreement and make it permanent.” Accuses Turkey of committing genocide. https://t.co/h9qRqPZtjL
