The United States will move 500 troops to Lithuania in October for a six-month deployment...."The message is that the U.S. forces can arrive whenever and wherever they might be needed, with the forces that might be needed," said Lithuania's Defense Minister Raimondas Karoblis.

The new U.S. troops will bring 30 Abrams tanks, which Lithuania's defense minister said was more than in similar sized deployments, 25 Bradley armored vehicles and 70 other vehicles.

Russia has a legitimate complaint that the US throws its forces all over the place. If Russia moved their troops around as much as the US does, wouldn't the US be very worried?

Can Russia really have a legitimate complaint about a rapid deployment of 500 soldiers? Could that repreaent anything resembling an offensive force?
Didn’t they mobilize 200 thousand soldiers in the Western district for exercises last year?

In their eyes, sure they can. Remember, its 500 soldiers on top of what is already there on top of troops elsewhere. Russia has a lot of NATO troops on its borders.

And yeah, that was a pretty big exercise last year.
