Is the next launch the one that completes their technology demonstration and closes the window on US aggression?
Doubt that it will "complete" their demonstration. But they are getting closer to the end.

One of the main functions of missile launches for the DPRK is the preservation of their "status quo" and they are very good at it.

So all the "preconditions" for a preemptive strike are set in place or rolling out over the next couple of days no?.....assuming the evacuations go full scale..... combined with the rumblings on twitter and the new moon... this naval force movement by India to the Vladivostok region has tipped the scales for me...

I really think the point of no return occurs when the US evacuates civies under cover of a drill. If you weren't in the know you would never know about it in advance and It would be a footnote in history eclipsed by the events set in motion.

In this situation Un & co would realize that they have no choice but to attempt to strike first. This is assuming of course that they were fortunate enough to get that intelligence in time to send out orders, their command and control isn't jammed/destroyed and their offensive weaponry isn't already buried in their bunkers or vaporized.

Whilst on patrol in the Sea of Japan last month, a U.S. Navy warship received a warning order, or WARNO, to prepare for a possible Tomahawk cruise missile strike on North Korea, Foreign Policy disclosed on Oct. 18.

Former defense officials that the publication spoke to cautioned that the order did not mean Washington is preparing to take military action against Pyongyang.
Rather, commanders were preparing for a quick-response should a conflict arise.

SEOUL--North Korea has gone close to a “quasi-war footing” in response to joint military drills by U.S. and South Korean forces in nearby waters, according to a source with good contacts in Pyongyang's reclusive regime.

The source said that live ammunition is being distributed to members of the military, as well as the secret police, to counter any threats that may arise from the exercises off the Korean Peninsula.

“They have been effectively placed on a quasi-war footing,” the source said.

North Korea normally stockpiles live ammo in arsenals as a precaution against accidents, and only arms its border patrol and troops deployed in the forward area close to the border of South Korea.

The joint military exercises started Oct. 16 in waters off the Korean Peninsula amid heightened tensions over North Korea's repeated nuclear and ballistic missile tests.

Based on an analysis of satellite images and other intelligence, Tokyo, as well as Washington and Seoul, believes that North Korea remains on alert to launch ballistic missiles at a moment's notice.

Live ammunition is being provided to members of the military and secret police under the jurisdiction of the ministry of state security, as well as police officers under the ministry of people’s security, according to the source.

“The nation is ready to respond to whatever U.S. action, whether it is sanctions, pressure, or military option,” said North Korea’ state-run Korean Central News Agency on Oct. 17.

The agency also referred to media reports of reactions in other countries to U.S. President Donald Trump’s rhetoric toward North Korea and wariness of possible U.S. military action.

They have been at this quasi war "status" for some time now.

Quasi-war status" is one step lower than a "state of war," but is still a relatively high level security measure. Quasi-war status requires every institution in North Korea, including from the Party, military, and government to enter emergency status and prepare for war, but no specific actions were taken following the most recent announcement.

This is what grabbed my attention, they are are actively preparing for threats that may arise from the exercises. This info wasn't released by DPRK for internal or external propaganda purposes. it was reported by Japanese news.

I don't think there were reports of ammo being passed out from the older articles (although I could be wrong and may have missed it)
