This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 2 P.M., Tuesday, October 1st, 2019. Condition code is Green. DEFCON 5.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats at this time.

Politics in the U.S. government are currently chaotic. With one political faction hyper-focused on destroying the sitting President and the President currently in besieged mode, the United States is seen by its adversaries as weak and distracted. Their current thinking is that they can simply wait the U.S. President out, hoping for a weaker leader to take the position in the next year or by 2021 at the latest. This will make any attempt at negotiations with North Korea, China, or even Russia difficult as they see the U.S. unable to make any substantial threat or follow-through any potential deal due to an intractable Congress who will oppose the President regardless of whether it is good for the country or not.

During this time, the United States is to send 1,000 additional troops to Poland with talks for an armored brigade combat team.

Russia has stated that it is to produce missiles that were banned under recently ended nuclear pact, however they said that Russia would not deploy them unless the United States did so first. China, for its part, has refused to consider joining any nuclear arms treaty and has revealed missiles that can directly threaten the United States. They have also shown a number of missiles that can threaten near neighbours like Japan and Vietnam, countries whom China has taken islands from in the South China Sea.

The IAEA reports that Iran has increased its stock of enriched uranium and is refining it to a greater purity than agreed to under the previous nuclear deal. Iran has ordered faster centrifuges and says that now there will be no limit to nuclear research and development. Additionally, Iran has begun using advanced centrifuges originally banned under nuclear agreement and threatens even higher enrichment. Additionally, Iran has announced joint naval drill with Russia and China.

Pakistan has claimed, then retracted a statement that it would not be the first to use nuclear weapons in a conflict with India. The Pakistan president has hinted it would use nuclear weapons if losing a conventional war.

The DEFCON Warning System is a private intelligence organization which has monitored and assessed nuclear threats by national entities since 1984. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack. If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
