This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 2 P.M., Thursday, July 11th, 2019. Condition code is Green. DEFCON 5.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats at this time.

As expected, recent hostilities between Iran and rival powers did not erupt into open warfare. However, there have been significant moves by all actors which have increased the possibility of some kind of regional war.

After Iran shot down a U.S. drone, the U.S. retaliated by attacking Iranian computers, though many of Iran’s computers are not connected to the internet. Iran is accused of attacking shipping in the area, bombing targets. Great Britain has seized an Iranian vessel, while Iran attempted and failed to seize a British ship.

The head of the U.N. atomic watchdog said reports that Iran has followed through on a threat to accelerate its production of enriched uranium and has broken though enriched uranium limit set in nuclear deal. Additionally, Iran says it will enrich uranium to “any amount it wants”. Meanwhile, the United States is to send 1,000 additional troops to Middle East, mostly intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and force protection units.

We will continue to monitor developments in the area. We expect the Iranian issue to continue.

The DEFCON Warning System is a private intelligence organization which has monitored and assessed nuclear threats by national entities since 1984. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack. If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
