Yemen's Houthi movement has said it carried out an attack near the border with the southwestern Saudi region of Najran and captured "thousands" of enemy troops including several Saudi army officers but there was no immediate confirmation from the authorities in Saudi Arabia.

A spokesman for the Yemen-based rebels said in a statement on Saturday that three "enemy military brigades had fallen" in the attack, which he said was launched 72 hours earlier in the vicinity of Najran and was supported by the group's drone, missile and air defence units.

The Houthi military spokesperson said the operation reveals to Saudi Arabia that the Yemeni fighters are capable of further penetrating into Saudi territories "in case it continues its aggression against Yemen".

Yemen's Houthi rebels on Sunday broadcast footage they said was of a major attack into Saudi Arabia that killed or wounded 500 soldiers with thousands of others surrendering.

Yahya Saree, a Houthi military spokesman, described an ambush on the Saudi forces that then developed into an "all-out" cross-border offensive that trapped the troops inside Saudi Arabia.

"More than 200 were killed in dozens of [missile and drone] strikes while trying to escape or surrender," Saree said.

Seems odd that a rag-tag (or so many of us thought) group of rebels could do this. Perhaps they had support from non-uniformed Iranian soldiers?
Warriors are not always the fastest or strongest people. Strength and speed can be developed through training. Warriors are those who choose to stand between their enemy and all that they love or hold sacred.

What is with the vague information we have on this? this not a small event...minutes after this event prices at the pump went up...the industry knows something is going down with serious economic repercussions... and like other world events...very little to no coverage in Mainstream... stocking up on popcorn & butter for October.

I agree with this assessment. We should have more intel on this.

Its just as likely that those weren't even Saudi soldiers. They have been heavily using Sudanese and south American mercenaries for some time.
