Afghanistan has complained in a letter to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) about what it described as "continued violations" of its territory by Pakistani military forces.

In the letter, which is dated 22 August, Adela Raz, ambassador and permanent representative of Afghanistan to the United Nations, accuses the Pakistani military of "shelling" districts in eastern parts of Afghanistan, building military posts and barriers on Afghan territory and violating Afghan airspace with its aircraft.

The ambassador also points to incidents that took place on 19 and 20 August, whereby Pakistani military forces "fired over 200 rockets into the Sheltan district of Kunar Province", resulting in the "destruction of residential property and the displacement of the local population, who have suffered greatly as a result of the latest violations". ... violations
