Taiwan’s air force said Monday it was searching for an F-16 fighter jet that went missing at the start of annual live-fire drills.

The single-seat jet disappeared off the radar over mountainous terrain in the northeastern county of Keelung at 13:43 pm (0543 GMT), 34 minutes after take off, the air force said in a statement.

It was confirmed last night that the pilot of an F-16 fighter jet which crashed in the mountains of northern Taiwan during military maneuvers had indeed perished, according to the Ministry of National Defense.

The F-16 Fighting Falcon took off at 1:19 p.m. from Hualien Air Force Base to participate in the first day of live-fire exercises for the annual five-day Han Kuang military exercises. Pieces of the wreckage of the warplane were first spotted by a hiker on Wufen Mountain (五分山) in New Taipei's Rueifang District, and the finding was confirmed at approximately 2:39 in the afternoon, reports CNA.

The National Rescue Command Center said that it immediately launched a land and air search effort, including two helicopters, 22 vehicles, 126 personnel, 4 search and rescue dogs, and a drone, as well as 17 fire trucks, 28 firefighters and two drones from the New Taipei City fire department.

After nearly five hours of searching, officials found the tattered and bloodied remains of Major Wu Yen-ting's (吳彥霆) flight suit at the scene of the crash at 7:00 p.m. When fire department rescuers arrived on the scene at 7:57 p.m., they found pieces of the man's flesh scattered around a large area and remnants of his undergarments hanging from a tree, and confirmed that the remains were that of Wu, according to CNA.

okay really quick, we know China has been messing with new tech that disrupts electronics on warplanes and warships.

First ik for fact the F-16 is capable of ejecting its pilot safely many seconds before impact or signs the plane is not responding to commands . So if the pilot didn't eject that tells me there was a malfunction with it, which there are many safety features that prevent the pilot from not being able to eject.

With that said lead me to firmly believe China's involvement in this crash. Even more so if the Chinese know about it because it was a planned live fire drill.

Not long ago, SU-30SM fell in the water after takeoff from the Khmeimim airbase. It was a planned flight. Both pilots died. USA have serious developments in technology that disrupts electronics on warplanes and warships. Do you firmly believe USA's involvement in this crash?

No because what your saying is not even remotely close to this case, nor douse it even make remote sense of your analogy & here is why,

Douse not even remotely make sense that anyone would think the US was behind what you mentioned, the Su plane crashed as it took off, this plane in Taiwan was well within the air already for awhile (in fact for 34 minutes)...

But whatever don't logically think that China isn't messing with Taiwan with everything going on, even after China has been found messing with jamming tech in that region very recently on US assets for that matter. lol

Not to jump completely off topic but this just proves once again that the whole GPS system is nothing but ground based antennas in north America and Europe as nothing in the southern hemisphere gets found unless someone sees it. If they had GPS they would have been brought right to its last known position. The U.S. system works off the old Loran system for ships out at sea, now it uses digital microwave units that work a lot better, that are in the North American hemisphere and Europe has a similar system. Its all Radio transmitters based off time signals. If anyone thinks our little cell phones beam up to Scotty in space, well lets just say they need a medical exam.

This is precisely why the US has dumped its plans for expensive stealth drones. They are too easy to be hacked from anyone on the ground!!!! Even low tech nations like Iran or Lebanon. Global Hawk never flies anything but a pre-planned course and always high enough and out to sea so as not to be taken over by a hostile nation.

US and International flights that cross the oceans use a computer that measures time and speed, every flight takes off at ten minute intervals and flies at a certain speed on a mandatory route so if a plane goes down they know where about where it should be. This is why so many planes are never found in the southern hemisphere, because they just do not have such strict guidelines.

Sheesh...flat earthers, anti-semites, lib-prog propagandists...this place is really going down hill.
Totally right out into GLP country.

As a long time aviator, I shall state categorically that the above commenter is right of his nut onthe subject of avionics and nav systems.
Good for a larf. Grounding in reality is somewhat lacking.
