More than 2,500 paratroopers and some 600 pieces of equipment are involved in the drills.
Servicemen from Novorossiysk, Kamyshinsk and Ulan Ude units, as well as the fourth army of the Aerospace Forces and Air Defense Forces of the Southern military district take part in the exercises

The crew of the large landing ship (BDK) of the Black Sea Fleet "Caesar Kunikov" will take part in the exercises of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Federation in the Crimea. The official representative of the fleet Vyacheslav Trukhachev told journalists about it.

Hmm. Unprecedented number of units, but only 2500 paratroopers and 600 equipment. Repulsing "massive missile and air strikes" in a "sudden check." Alright.

A CPX? Mixed signals, but that sounds about right. Presumably in response to the NATO exercise in area. USMC after all looks like its practicing storming Crimea's beaches.

I belive that wording is based on equipment which is involved (including navy).

"Russian Airborne servicemen carried out landing of a tactic group from helicopters on the Crimea Peninsula in course of the Airborne command-and-staff exercise. Paratroopers are eliminating simulated sabotage groups after landing from helicopters. According to commanders of the Kamyshin separate airborne assault brigade Colonel Alexander Valitov, airdrop of the tactic group was carried out from Mi-8 and Mi-26 helicopters. About 200 servicemen took part in the operation."
