Re: South China sea China warnings

I agree that China is not going to give up on its claim in SCS. I will, however, continue to believe that there is a path to demilitarizing through sanctions, Taiwan relations (including the crazy plan to lease Taiping Island), and whatever pressure that is available.

Putin's Zapad 2017 simulated a war against NATO and neutral countries

Although it has already been discussed here a few months ago, now the German newspaper Bild has a rather detailed article out. Kremlin forces rehearsed capturing NATO’s “region of vulnerability, according to the Russian view”, namely the three Baltic states. “To realize this, you would have to quick...

Re: North Korea Launched a missile

Japan government estimates North Korea missile flew for 50 minutes and landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone - NHK https://twitter.com/Reuters/status/935593091909718016 That is insane. For comparison, back in May: altitude of 2,111.5 km and traveled for 30 minutes, the July 4 ICBM test: altitude...

Re: Did South Korea capitulate to the Chinese over the THAAD dispute?

Actually, I think we should apply this theory globally. Close all American bases on foreign soil and bring those troops home. Take all the funding we would have used on maintaining those bases and throw it into more CVNs and SSGNs. Who needs an airbase in South Korea when we can park a couple of ca...

Re: 17 nov DRPK-China's special envoy leaves for Pyongyang

President Trump said on Monday that he will designate North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism, a move designed to further isolate the rouge nation for its pursuit of nuclear weapons. North Korea will join Iran, Sudan and Syria on the State Department’s list of terror sponsors. The designation a...

Re: Is North Korea done for the moment?

Like McMaster said in his WH briefing a few weeks ago: Now, right now we’ve said that the goal is denuclearization of the Peninsula — period. And what you’ve seen is just the very beginning — maybe the end of the beginning — of the President’s strategy in the form of new sanctions in place now; much...

Re: Re: DRPK 10 November - DRPK may ordered its workers return to home

Trump just had his "big" announcment speech after the Asia trip. Most notable information I could find from the speech was this:
President Xi and Trump agreed that a freeze-for-freeze agreement would not be accepted.

Did South Korea capitulate to the Chinese over the THAAD dispute?

After the US deployed THAAD to South Korea, providing a missile shield for the central and southern parts of South Korea, China sanctioned South Korea. Mostly because they are worried about the ability of the radar to be integrated in a worldwide network of missile defense. The US, probably, wanted ...
